ALKHOBAR, 3 October — If the International Philippine School in Alkhobar (IPSA) were a person, it would be nearing college life by now.For this reason, IPSA celebrated its 14th Foundation Day with a bang.
During a whole-day celebration, nursery, kindergarten, preparatory, and lower elementary pupils took part in sports aerobics while the intermediate pupils children competed in the Cheer-Boom-Ba contest.
High school students had their own Pinoy Aerobics and the citizen’s military drill presentation.
School principal Dr. Erna Yuson took the occasion to exhort parents, faculty and school staff to continue working together to keep their school growing. An important recipe for such success, she said, is the presence of peace.
“The peace should start from within ourselves, in our hearts and minds. We cannot expect from others the peace we want, if we don’t have also peace within ourselves,” she said in a speech.
Highlighting the school’s celebration were the inauguration of its new and improved facilities such as the newly constructed stage, the new science lab equipment, the newly furnished EPP/THE rooms, and the new guard house.
IPSA also conducted recently its 2nd Personal Formation Program to all its faculty and administrative staff.
On hand to induct officers of the Parent Teacher Association Council (PTAC) and the Faculty and Staff Association (FSA) was Ambassador Bahnarim Guinomla.
In his keynote speech, the ambassador stressed that continual training for the faculty and staff is essential for schools to produce competent students.
For unless educators keep themselves abreast of developments in their respective fields at this era of fast-changing technology, they would not be able to give their students their due.
The IPSA-FSA officers for schoolyear 2002-2003 are Remedios Lazaro, president; Napoleon Abdon, vice-president; Evangelina Lait, secretary; Zenaida Aguinaldo, treasurer; and Cresencia Sta. Rosa, auditor.
The other officers are:
• PRO: Pearl Celine Fabregas for pre-school, Aurora Pacariem for lower elementary, Domingo Funtilar for upper elementary, Rowel Arevalo for high school, and Milagros Dayandante for administration.
• Board of Directors: Virginia Villanueva, Domingo Funtilar and Jennifer Pangilinan.
• Consultants: Ma. Karina Agregado for personnel and Senecia de Asis for finance.
