Aslam Sher Khan back in Congress

BHOPAL, 30 October— Senior leader and former president of Madhya Pradesh state Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Aslam Sher Khan, has been formally inducted into the Congress party by Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Mahavir Prasad Vashisht. Speaking on the occasion, Aslam said that the Congress was the only party which can provide a stable and secular government. The veteran leader said the party always works to protect the rights of the minorities and Dalits. Aslam, a former hockey Olympian-turned-politician, said that he had re-joined the Congress since he was impressed with the programs and policies of the Congress under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi.
