JEDDAH, 7 December 2002 — Al-Ittihad inscribed their name on yet another silverware by defeating Al-Wahda 1-0 in a charity match for the Prince Abdul Majeed Cup played at the Prince Abdullah Stadium here last night.
The match was part of the city’s Eid Al-Fitr festival celebrations. Ittihad’s lone goal was scored by Muhammad Amin in the first half. Then Ittihad held on to their lead to win the game. Al-Wahda made every attempt to breach the Ittihad’s goal, but all their attempts were foiled by Ittihad’s strong defense.
On behalf of Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed, Prince Faisal ibn Abdul Majeed, head of the Higher Organizing Committee for the Eid Festival, awarded the cup to the winners. The proceeds from the match are to be distributed to different charities. (Hassan Al-Adawi)
