JEDDAH, 7 February 2003 — Pakistan International School Jeddah-English Section (PISJ-ES) held its annual sports day and prize distribution function for 2003 here last weekend.
Admiral Abdul Aziz Mirza, ambassador of Pakistan was the chief guest and gave away prizes to the winners.
Other dignitaries included Tahir Iqbal Butt, Consul General of Pakistan, Dr. Mansour Ghazali, Director International School, Abdullah (Ministry of Education), Dr. Shoib Akbar, welfare consul, Malik Tariq Javed, Abdul Aziz Okaily (from consulate Jeddah). Principal PISJ (Azizia) wing commander (retd.) Mohammed Siddique, Salim Nisar, General Manager PIA, Shahid Amin, President JCL, Dr. Arshad Kaisrani Chairman of management committee and a large number of students and their parents were also present on the occasion.
Pakistan national anthem was sung by students Hammadullah, Umer Hanif, Awais Ishtiaq, Ibrahim, Abdul Rehman, Ajlal while Saudi National Anthem by Raheel, Ibrahim, Ameen and Hamayun. Imran Nasir and Ibrahim lighted the Annual Sports Day Mashal. Principal Mehar Afroz Afridi then welcomed the guests and said that throughout this year the students had been actively participating in various types of sports such as cricket, football, and gymnastics. She thanked Pepsi-Cola, sponsor “Star Super Market” who has always come to the forefront with refreshments and gifts for the programs and last but not least the general manager of PIA, Salim Nisar, who had gifted two tickets to two of best students of the year.
Imran Nasir (Y10-1), Sohaib Rafi (Y11-1) and Usman Sadiq (Y6-2) were the best players of the year. Following are some results of the Girls: 3-legged race (Jr.) Samreen Khan/Ramesha Khan, Anusha Saleem/Alvina Ahmed.
