RIYADH, 28 February 2003 — In the 25th week of the Forex Thursday Regulated Bowling League Leo Mabunga powered Pampanga to the best team of the week awards, while also landing the best bowler of the week award at the FAL Bowling Center.
Mabunga’s was the week’s best individual record holders in the high series scratch (817), high series handicap (817), high game scratch (244) and high game handicap (244). With Mabunga’s game, Pampanga, coached by Roger Bautista, demolished the MAK/Nokia in straight matches (20-0). Mabunga, at the end of the four games, exploded for a series of 817 to romp away with the coveted best bowler of the week award. Likewise, the Pampanga team keglers bagged the best team of the week award when they produced a towering 20 points. The duo of Reny Dimapilis and Jess Cuevas toppled separate four-game series of 770 and 709. Roger Bautista sizzled to add a series of 686.
Gigi “miracle” Enriquez led the MAK/Nokia team by posting a four-game series of 708. Willy Nogoy and Neil Artus submitted separate four-game series of 700 and 619 while Robert Castro had 600 points.
The fancied Batch 2002 team keglers got 20 points over the default team, the Ticao Masbate and leading scorers in the Batch 2002 was Jing Jimenez with 726 points. Weng Loren posted 697 in four matches while Kaiseer “heavyweight” Shakeel a series of 584.
The Lucky Strikes team of Larry Mondoy halted the Adrenalin (17-4) with Benny Mondoy (731), Atoy Malubay (724) and the Haj Goodwill Games singles champion, Oca Bernabe (701). Ace Vher Cayago tallied a series of 688 in four outings.
Topscoring for the Adrenalin Team was Rizal Dellosa with 776 series in four games. Jomari de Luna, Rod Basilio and Efren Abuyo garnered a series of 692, 636 and 616. Ferdie Ramos rolled a series of 539 in three games.
The games between Grohe and the Bahr Al-Olum ended at 16-15, in Grohe’s favor. JR Bagon led Grohe with 816 and Solaiman Jesusco (739), Mon Nilo (715), and Dante Prado (714). Rolly Manalang added 667 pinfalls in four outings.
Ave Tena of the Bahr Al-Olum topscored by tallying a four-game series of 779. Rey Mendoza, Fred Dilapdilap and Wilmer Encina downed series of 771, 742 and 707 respectively.
Jell Tan’s impressive performance piloted Game Ka Na Ba to beat the Navy Eagles (12-8). Tan toppled a four-game series of 758 to top Ka Na Ba squad. Rene Tanglao shared the limelight with Tan by adding a four-game series of 749 and Arnel Gordovez followed Tanglao by knocking-down a series of 739. For the Navy Eagles, topscoring was Manny Balanque with 741. Manny Tuzon and Noel “ganda-ganda” Morales caught the eye of the spectators by scoring a separate series of 647 and 644.
Meanwhile, the semifinal and finals of the Forex Open Bowling Tournament will be held on March 6 and 7, 2003 at the FAL Bowling Center. The Top 10 in each class (A, B, C and D) will play a five series scratch to determine the Top 20 bowlers who advance in the finals. The Top 20 will play another five game series with handicap to determine the Top 5 who will advance to the Stepladder Match.
