JEDDAH, 17 June 2003 — Ittihad club honorary members picked Mansour Al-Balawi as the new president for the next season. Al-Balawi was in charge of the football teams of the club.
The election of the new president took place on Sunday night at a meeting of honorary members of the club. The meeting lasted three hours in which the members discussed plans for the next season.
The members also agreed on the club’s budget for next season and is expected to be around SR30 million.
Adnan Jamjoom, honorary member of the club, said that the vote for Mansour Al-Balawi as president was unanimous.
Al-Balawi expressed his thanks to the members for electing him to this prestigious position. He also thanked the members for reposing faith in him to carry out the duties diligently and added that he will strive to live up to their expectations.
He also said that he will announce the new management team to run the club after the team camp in Taif. He also emphasized that his primary focus will be on the forthcoming Saudi-Egyptian Super Cup event starting next month.
In related news, Ittihad officially signed on three new players for next season. Libyan Tariq Al-Tayeb, a midfielder, Algerian Ibrahim Zaghfool, a defender, and Ibrahim Baqweka from the French team Marseilles are the new inductees. The three players will join the team next Saturday for the camp in preparation for the Super Cup.
