JEDDAH, 23 June 2003 — The Consulate General of Pakistan, Jeddah, launched a bilingual website, http://www.pakarabportal.net, yesterday to promote trade relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The website — in Arabic and English — will cater to the needs of entrepreneurs in the Gulf region and Saudi Arabia seeking trade with Pakistan. It will contain information about Pakistan’s customs laws, business opportunities, commodities for export, latest statistics, graphic animations and tips for investment in Pakistan.

The website was created without involving any government expenditure. Pakistani engineers in Jeddah volunteered their services for launching the site.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia retired Adm. Abdul Aziz Mirza praised the Commercial Section of the Consulate General for its efforts in launching the website. He hoped that the website would be instrumental in promoting trade and investment between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Muhammad Saleem, Consul (Commercial), said this was the first website launched officially in Arabic by any foreign mission.

The website http://www.pak-sauditrade.com launched earlier provides information to Pakistani businessmen interested in trade with Kingdom.
