JEDDAH, 3 July 2003 — Jeddah Governor Prince Mishaal opened on Tuesday night an exhibition of photographs of Islamic heritage, city sculptures and paintings organized by Al-Bir Charity Organization at the Jeddah Hilton.

“The exhibition, which will run for a month, is part of the ongoing Jeddah Festival,” said Saudi photographer Khalid Khidr on behalf of the organizers.

Khidr, who has exhibited photographs of the Holy Kaaba and Prophet’s Mosque, showed the prince a selection of the exhibits.

Eight professional photographers and 16 artists are taking part in the exhibition. The prince was impressed with the standard of exhibits and also by the charitable cause on whose behalf it was organized.

Exhibits include photographs by N. Jambi, B. Sendi, Saud Mahjoub, Sultan Manjiri, Zainal Abideen and Abdul Aziz Ayash. Their subjects include Jeddah’s bicycle monument, traditional Saudi dance and the picturesque Asir region. Well-known artist Safia Binzagr has exhibited two of her works on the Bedouin lifestyle.
