JEDDAH, 11 July 2003 — In the 16th week of the All Filipino Tenpin Bowling League (AFTBL) organized by the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Jeddah (FTBJ), Picpa Pro and the Gandour Yamama team keglers boosted their chances of making the finals. Picpa Pro through the games of Sebz Tristeza and supported by Jun Pilipina, Lindo Villanueva, Emil Payongayong and Eddie Alisbo snatched 37 big points on lanes 9 and 10.
Tristeza shot a series of 622, with a game-high of 223 while Pilipina and Villanueva collected a separate series of 584 and 571 in three matches. Payongayong and Alisbo, scored a series of 561 and 515. Picpa Pro submitted overall total team series handicap of 2,853 points. Gandour Yamama squad poured 27 points through the tandem of Terry Naorbe and Rey Pormilda who toppled a series of 592 and 582. Jess Escondo and Leo Pangilinan scored a series of 528 and 502 while Fred Monzon had a series of 490.
An overall total team series handicap of 2,694 was posted by the Gandour Yamama quintet. The two-time 300 perfect holder, Rene Santiago piloted the SkyFreight Forwarders to the third position by submitting 35 points. Santiago rolled 246 in the first game and tallied a three game series of 638. Hero Garcia, Cris Villavelez and Danny de Guzman scored a series of 583, 582 and 525. League leaders, Omo team tightened their grip as the undisputed leaders by snatching 30 points. Joe Flores led with a series of 578 with Andy Erena (543) and Zaldy Parinas (540). Jun Lasaga and Toto Lim produced 535 and 510 series in three games. The Dove Bar team captained by Edwin Ronquillo registered 26 points with three-time 300 holder, Hashim Guinomla who toppled a series of 550. Jess Pineda and Ronquillo carded a series of 549 and 536 to follow Guinomla.
Nap Patayan and Raul delos Reyes added a series of 524 and 507. A total of 19 points were registered by Ay Sarap Catering with Atoi Cruz (567), followed by James Galvan (560), Mixi Lechuga (525), Roger Daquioag (509) and Benjie Cyls (495). The Saudi Pearl Insurance team of Rene San Pedro posted 14 points. Boy Casio topscored with 585 points, followed by FTBJ president, Rene San Pedro (511), Rene Martinez (502), FTBJ secretary-general Luis T. Luna (500) and Rey Beltran (469). Libby’s Juice sealed 13 points and leading was Gil Cortez with a series of 558. Igna Salgado and Val Magsino pocketed a series of 515 and 511 while Rally Zamora and Mao Orolfo knocked down a series of 496 and 472. The team of Showtime and Top Gun garnered 11 and 7 points, respectively.
