RIYADH, 15 August 2003 — The semifinal round of the ongoing Inter-Cargo dart tilt ended last Friday with Visayan Cargo Bulls scoring a thrilling 9-8 win over MRM Phoenix, the current leader of the tourney. The victorious team of Eding Galera performed poorly in the singles, allowing MRM to take a 5-3 lead but quickly recovered four points in the first and second doubles to lead 7-5, going into the third doubles.
As the pressure of the match boiled, it was Nelson Sarte of the winning side who stood calm and finished a 40 by a single pin to the delight of his team members and supporters.
The no-bearing team match was donated to MRM with Art Pal completing his favorite 32 out shot with one dart. In other game results, Peter Maranan’s COD Wakaray pumped in more points via an 11-6 win over Utex Striker Point of Boy Augusto, trailing behind MRM in the team standing.
SkyFreight STR of Noel de Leon also came strong and walked away with two victories at the expense of the two Metro Star teams. Record producers for the league were Feddie Nacional and Rod Viray for least darts, 16 and 17 pins respectively.
Rod Viray again was the highest with 105 and 100 for Jimmy Alapide. Mario Guanzon pinned his fourth Ton80 while Zoilo Holganza was the cherry king of the day.
The MVP qualifiers of the league are Mario Guanzon, Ely Martos, Peter Lachica, Edwin Canales, Romy Artieda, Mannie Barroga, Rod Viray, Henry Faustino, Alex Suyo, Vic Manaois, Rudy Metrillo, Doy del Moral and Jun Danabar.
