DAMMAM, 26 September 2003 — The All Filipino Community and Sports Commission (AFCSCOM) will launch two sports events at the Al-Nahda Sports Club here on Oct. 10 and 17.
A table tennis event and a chess tourney will be organized separately by the Table Tennis Enthusiasts Club (TTEC) and the Alkhobar Chess Group (AKCG) which are both member organizations of AFCSCOM.

For the chess competition, contact Lito Mullon 058-407567, Ding Bermejo 894-8001 ext. 318, and Andy Reyes at 572-4373. The events to be launched by AFCSCOM this year is a major activity after its successful staging of the indoor sports fest held recently at the Al-Nahda Sports Club.
Top Filipino table tennis players and woodpushers displayed their talents in the two previous events.
Reggie Ybanez, Jojie Apolinario, Pedro Manuag, Teddy Claudio and Hashim Halim were the champions in the singles tournament while Edwin Carmenand Leo Romero, Romeo Laus Jr. and Gemy Tambio, Nonoy Pagunsan and James Nicklaus were the champions in the doubles tournament in four separate divisions.
In the Category I chess tournament, Richard Baluya of Saudi Consult, Alkhobar won the championship trophy. Runners-up were Milan Roldan of Aujan Softdrinks, Dammam, and Angelo Tolentino of Sofcon Engineering, Alkhobar.
In Category II, Lito Mullon of Zuhair Fayez Partnership, Alkhobar, won the first place.
Second was Edwin Icogo of Arcan, Alkhobar. Third place went to Danny Mejia of Fugro Suhaimi, Dammam.
