LONDON: Jordan’s Queen Rania wowed in an Elie Saab outfit on Monday as she accompanied her husband King Abdullah II on a visit to Paris for a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte.

Her look, from the Lebanese designer’s pre-autumn 2024 collection, was made up of a striking collared shirt and matching skirt in dark green with a matching scarf, a pair of cream heels and a green shoulder bag.

The queen has a track record of choosing outfits designed by Arab and Middle Eastern designers for prominent engagements.

Earlier this year, while attending an iftar hosted by women of the Bani Sakher from the Badia region of Jordan, she opted for a traditional, embroidered thobe in solidarity with her hosts.

She marked Jordan’s 74th Independence Day in 2020 with an elaborate blue kaftan by Palestinian designer Dar Noora.

And for the wedding ceremony of her son Crown Prince Hussein and Saudi Princess Rajwa last year, she donned another Saab creation.

During the meeting between the Jordanian and French leaders, the instability in the Middle East and the “catastrophic humanitarian situation” unfolding in Gaza was discussed, a statement released on Queen Rania’s official website said.

Jerry Seinfeld faces pro-Palestine hecklers in Melbourne

DUBAI: American comedian and actor Jerry Seinfeld confronted another group of pro-Palestine hecklers at his stand-up show in Melbourne, Australia, during the latest in a series of disruptions to his tour.

Protestors began shouting: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” towards the end of the event at the Rod Laver Arena, to which Seinfeld replied: “Oh, you’re back. They’re back! The protesters are back! I missed you.”

The 70-year-old sitcom star continued: “I think you need to go back and tell whoever is running your organization, ‘We just gave more money to a Jew.’ That cannot be a good plan for you. You gotta come up with a better plan.”

Seinfeld has been vocal in his support for Israel following Hamas’s attack on Oct. 7 last year. He also met with families of hostages and visited a kibbutz during a trip to Israel in December.

Throughout his tour, Seinfeld has repeatedly been heckled due to his outspoken support.

At his show in Sydney last week, the comedian called a heckler who was escorted out by security a moron and said: “We have a genius, ladies and gentlemen. He solved the Middle East!”
