BEIRUT, 13 December 2003 — Lebanon’s Army Intelligence Services detained a third suspect yesterday on charges of links with the foiled bombing of the US Embassy in Lebanon earlier this week, judicial sources said.
No details were given on the identity or nationality of the suspect, who was being questioned by army intelligence officers at the Defense Ministry in Beirut’s southeastern suburbs of Yarze, they said.
A bomb attack on the US Embassy north of Beirut was foiled Wednesday when a Lebanese man and a Palestinian were arrested when the Lebanese tried to carry explosives into the embassy compound. Preliminary reports said army intelligence services were questioning the two men.
