LOS ANGELES, 14 December 2003 — Dirk Nowitzki had 27 points and 12 rebounds and Antoine Walker added 27 points and 10 rebounds to give the Dallas Mavericks their first win in Los Angeles for 13 years, 110-93 over the Lakers on Friday.
The Mavericks, who had not won a game in Los Angeles since Dec. 12 1990, took an early lead, dominated for much of the game and then survived a determined Lakers comeback attempt in the fourth quarter before pulling away again to win.
Los Angeles saw its 10-game winning streak snapped and was handed its first loss at the Staples Center this season. The Lakers had reeled off 27 consecutive regular season home wins, last losing in Los Angeles last February.
Dallas also ended a five-game losing streak at the hands of the Lakers and beat LA for just the sixth time in the last 52 meetings between the teams in the regular season.
Dallas is just 3-7 on the road this season. Emotions were high all night, the residue of Laker Karl Malone’s elbowing of Steve Nash in the last meeting between the two teams, which earned him a one-game suspension.
Gary Payton of the Lakers was ejected with 4:50 left in the first quarter after contesting a technical foul and harsh words were exchanged all night.
Nash grabbed 23 points for Dallas, while Josh Howard added 17 points and 13 rebounds.

In Oakland, Baron Davis scored 27 points and added 12 assists to lead New Orleans past the Golden State Warriors.
David Wesley added 23 points for New Orleans, while P.J. Brown added 16 points and 15 rebounds to help the Hornets win their fourth straight game.

In Washington, Kevin Garnett scored 23 points and pulled in 16 rebounds to help Minnesota to victory over Washington. Sam Cassell led Minnesota with 25 points and Trenton Hassell scored 14 and added 10 rebounds.

In Philadelphia, Andre Miller scored 23 points and Marcus Camby had 16 plus 17 rebounds to pace Denver to a win over the 76ers. Carmelo Anthony scored 15 points and Nene Hilario added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Nuggets, who built up an 11-point lead in the first half.

In Boston, Paul Pierce nailed 33 points and 11 rebounds to give the Celtics a win over Toronto.
Mike James contributed 21 points and Mark Blount added 13 for the Celtics, who outscored Toronto 68-56 in the first half and held on for their fourth straight win.
Vince Carter had 35 points and Donyell Marshall tossed in 31 for the Raptors, who lost for the first time in six games.

In Indianapolis, Jermaine O’Neal scored 20 points and Fred Jones added 18 to help Indiana beat Atlanta.
Ron Artest added 17 points and Reggie Miller scored 13 for the Pacers, who have won three of their past four games.

In Miami, Lamar Odom paced the Heat with 29 points and 14 rebounds, leading them to the win over Memphis.
Dwyane Wade added 14 points for the Heat while Brian Grant and Rafer Alston each chipped in with 11. James Posey had 19 points for the Grizzlies, who lost for the first time in seven games.

In Florida, Kerry Kittles scored 22 points to lead New Jersey to victory over Orlando, handing the Magic their 20th defeat of the season. Richard Jefferson scored 19 points and Kenyon Martin contributed 16 points and 15 rebounds to help the Nets to their fourth straight win.
Juwan Howard and Tracy McGrady each scored 20 points and Drew Gooden had 19 points and 13 rebounds for Orlando but they could not extend their two-game winning streak.

In Detroit, Rashard Lewis contributed 33 points to help Seattle thump Detroit.
Ronald Murray scored 19 points and Brent Barry had 18 to give Seattle their first win in five games. Ben Wallace led the Pistons with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

In Milwaukee, Michael Redd scored 30 points as the Bucks claimed victory over struggling Chicago to continue their revival.
Desmond Mason scored 21 points and picked up 11 rebounds and Damon Jones added 22 points for the Bucks, who won their second in a row after three straight losses. Marcus Fizer had 19 points and Kendall Gill added 18 for the Bulls, who were outscored 31-15 in the first quarter and lost for the 11th time in 12 games.

In Salt Lake City, Mike Bibby scored 25 points and Peja Stojakovic nailed 24 to lead Sacramento to victory over Utah.
Bobby Jackson put in 22 points to help the Kings to their third straight win.
