Loeb Wins Monte Carlo Rally

MONACO, 26 January 2004 — Sebastian Loeb of France, in a Citroen, won the Monte Carlo Rally yesterday, clocking in more than a minute ahead of his top rival and grabbing his second successive victory in the world rally season’s opener. Loeb finished the three-day event with an overall time of 4 hours, 12 minutes, 3.0 seconds.

In the world manufactures championship, Ford took the lead with drivers Markko Martin and Francois Duval finishing second and third, respectively, on the winding course in this Riviera principality.

Martin, from Estonia, finished 72.6 seconds behind Loeb with Belgium’s Duval down 79.6 seconds on the leader.
