JEDDAH, 26 March 2004 — Kanoo Group will sponsor Jeddah Cricket League Tournament for the 15th year in succession. The matches are organized by JCL who have been successfully running cricket in the Western Province since 1976 and are known to be the pioneers of cricket in Saudi Arabia.
Ali Abdul Aziz Kanoo Deputy Managing Director of Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo, approved the sponsorship for the year 2003-2004. The check was presented by Ali Abdullah Kanoo to M. Iqbal, executive secretary JCL, at the Kanoo Center in Jeddah.
Also present from JCL were Afsar Faheem — general secretary, M. Akhtar Hussain, treasurer. From the sponsor’s side those present were Cees Van Vark, area manager, Osman Ali, reg. coordination manager and A.A. Merchant — sr. accountant. While handing over the check Ali Abdullah Kanoo assured JCL of Kanoo’s continued support for JCL activities.
Iqbal thanked the Kanoo management for their continued support to JCL and hoped that the relationship would continue to grow in future. He briefed Kanoo management of JCL activities, which besides organizing leagues for member clubs and inter-city matches, are actively involved in promoting the game among the Saudi youth.
