RIYADH, 14 May 2004 — Powerhouse Al Bustan Ready Mix have been picking victories like they were apples to go 5-0 after five weekends of play in the Zahid Tractor Basketball Tournament Central Region First Conference 2004 “The 10th Cup”.
Herrera and Leodigario each shot 22 points and Jeff Salac added 17 as Al Bustan added Ner’s La Paz Batchoy to their list of victims Thursday with a resounding 114-83 victory.
Gablino and Carulasan each contributed 14 and Gantan completed the seven players to hit double-digit scores for Al Bustan with 10 points.
Two days before, Al Bustan faced their real challenge against Al Khorayef but then got away with an 80-73 triumph.
Talk “N” Friends, three games behind Al Bustan, is the only other unbeaten team having cruised to their second straight victory at the expense of Al Khorayef 91-76, as Galus fired 24 points to go with the 16 by Carpio and 13 by Calma.
D’Disers and Mitsubishi X-Factor, two teams expected to give fancied Al Bustan a run for their money, ran their records to 3-1.
D’Disers, getting 19 pionts from Romy Semilla and 18 from wily guard Jeff Hernando, whipped Ford Al Jazirah 91-78 Friday, while Mitsubishi X-Factor trounced Zahid Tractor 114-99 Thursday.
Meantime, Zahid Basketball Committee chair Armin Gonzales expressed his thanks for the full support of the management led by regional manager Caterpillar Machinery Division Central Region Faraj A. Tarhini.
The other sponsors in addition to Zahid Tractor & Heavy Machinery Co. Ltd.
