KABUL, 24 May 2004 — Taleban insurgents ambushed Afghan security forces in southern Zabul province Saturday evening, killing one soldier and wounding five others.
Col. Mohammed Ayub, provincial police chief, told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) the radical fighters attacked the troops when they were patrolling the Kabul-Kandahar Highway near the Shajovi district of Zabul, leaving one soldier dead and five others wounded.
