Lukoil to Stay in Saudi Arabia

MOSCOW, 1 June 2004 — Russian oil and gas giant Lukoil will maintain its operations in Saudi Arabia despite the weekend terrorist attacks there targeting the offices of several oil companies, Lukoil officials said. “We do not intend to change our plans for Saudi Arabia, including the opening of a permanent office this summer,” the company’s international extractions project operator Grigory Volchek told Interfax late Sunday. According to Volchek, Lukoil employees were absent from the compound at the time of attack and were “all safe and sound and working according to schedule.”
