MANAMA, 29 August 2004 — An ungrateful sheep that was rescued by coastguard officials from drowning at sea near Mina Salman Port kicked one of its rescuers and broke his right leg. Coastguard officials received a call at 4.30 p.m. of a “live body in the water” opposite the port and dispatched a speedboat to help rescue a “drowning victim”. Upon arriving on the scene they found the sheep in the water and pulled it to safety on board their own boat. The agitated sheep that was moving erratically kicked a Bahraini coastguard and broke his right leg. The fellow officers of the injured coastguard rushed him to hospital. The sheep, which is believed to have fallen off a livestock cargo ship heading to the port, was handed over safe and uninjured to the Bahrain Livestock Company.
