Osmania Old Boys to Hold Cultural Fete

RIYADH, 29 August 2004 — The alumni of Osmania University, a premier institution in the south Indian city of Hyderabad, plans to hold a colorful cultural program on Sept. 3 as part of the Indian Independence Day celebrations, Mohammed Baseeruddin, general secretary of Osmania University Old Boys NRI Association (OUOBNA) said here yesterday. The event will be organized at the Indian Embassy auditorium.

Baseeruddin also announced the names of the newly launched OUOBNA’s office bearers led by president Mohammed Quaiser. The association’s launch, he said, coincides with the 85th anniversary of Osmania University.

The association, however, will be formally inaugurated by Professor Anantha Swamy, vice-chancellor of Osmania University, said Niyaz Ahmed Khan, chairman of the International Indian School Riyadh, who introduced the other office-bearers.

Other guests of honor during the inaugural ceremony will include Zahid Ali Khan and Khan Abdul Lateef Khan, editors respectively of Siyasat and Munsif, two leading Urdu dailies of Hyderabad.

The association named Mohammed Abdul Rasool as OUOBA’s vice president and Shah Ghulam Subhani and Mir Ahmed Ali were named joint secretary and treasurer respectively. Rasool said that 400 old boys have already enrolled for membership of the association, for which the annual fee is SR100 each.
