The 8-ink HP Photosmart 8453 enables studio-quality printing in both color and black and white, with specially-formulated grayscale inks at the heart of the system. The use of dye-based light gray, medium gray and photo-optimized black inks — developed to reduce metamerism and thereby provide neutral tones regardless of lighting conditions — results in black and white photos comparable with the best studio-developed prints. In addition, these gray and black inks combine with the five color inks (cyan, magenta, yellow, light cyan and light magenta) to build luminance, dramatically reduce hue shifts and produce far more accurate colors. The HP Photosmart 8453’s five card readers support 11 types of digital camera memory cards. The printer may be shared with other computers using built-in Ethernet. The printer also supports memory card upload. Users can print directly from PictBridge-enabled cameras via a front panel port.
