JEDDAH, 15 February 2005 — Surprises keep pounding in and out. But whether the news is good or bad, The Filipino Channel remains a good outlet and constant companion that brings a smile to every kapamilya — the lonely Filipino worker abroad.

TFC always rings a bell in providing solid news and entertainment to Overseas Filipino Workers and their families abroad.

TFC has become an effective tool against depression and homesickness especially in a foreign land where its culture differs so much from ours.

TFC-Middle East started as a single channel in 1998. Four years later, it introduced the 6-channel bundle, two of which are radio programs DZMM and DWRR.

At present, ABS-CBN TFC Direct has grown to more than half a million Pinoy viewers in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Yemen, Cyprus, Iran and even war-torn Iraq.

A new challenge can strike anywhere but TFC is bound to stay because the Filipino, wherever he may be, needs to be informed and entertained.

While away from his native land, the overseas Pinoy did not miss those historic news events that were documented on ANC.

TFC-Middle East established the first news bureau outside of the Philippines, the Middle East News Bureau, which now boasts 23 reporters, all with the firm resolve to tell the story of our “Bagong Bayani.”

Not only do they dwell on the sad plight of some of our kababayans, but also on their success stories that are worthy of emulation.

Balitang Middle East (BME) was born because there was a need for Pinoy community activities to be aired. BME is strategic edge against any competition that attempts to test the Pinoy overseas cable market.

But TFC is not only news. It breeds the Pinoy form of entertainment, whether musical, comedy or drama.
