AFTER working eight years for Moschino in Italy, the fashion designer Hesham Abulela is back in Cairo. “I would like Egypt to be a country where fashion counts, a center of fashion in the Arab world,” he says. Although he has only completed two collections, his crazy and funky style has created a stir and the customers love it.

The time he spent at Moschino has undoubtedly influenced his current style. “I like Moschino’s sense of humour. He doesn’t take fashion seriously. I always remember a what he used to say all the time, “Dress as you want, not as you should.” Moschino realy started a new trend in Italian fashion. He was known for his original shop windows. Dolce Gabana used to come in the evening and were influenced by Moschino’s incredible ideas. Armani also came but he never imitated but then, I don’t see Armani as a creative designer.”
