ISLAMABAD: Over 340,000 Pakistani citizens have registered online for Hajj between 2027-2030, state media reported this week, as Islamabad prepares for future pilgrimages under a new multi-year framework.
Pakistan’s federal cabinet approved the country’s first four-year Hajj Policy and Plan for 2027-2030 earlier this month. As per the new Hajj policy, Pakistanis who aspire to perform Hajj will need to register once for the pilgrimage in any year up to 2030.
The government said the multi-year framework would remove the need for pilgrims to register every year for the annual Islamic pilgrimage.
“The registration process for intending pilgrims for Hajj 2027–2030 is continuing, with the number of online registrations from home surpassing 340,000,” the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported on Saturday.
Quoting the spokesperson of the religious affairs ministry, APP said 246,000 applicants have opted for the government’s Hajj scheme while 94,000 have chosen the private Hajj scheme.
Giving a breakdown of the numbers, APP said 156,000 applicants from Punjab registered for Hajj while 100,000 applied online from Sindh since June. Around 51,000 registered online from Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 15,000 from Islamabad, 12,000 from the southwestern Balochistan, 2,600 from Azad Kashmir and 1,200 from Gilgit-Baltistan region.
The spokesperson said the announcement regarding the online collection of Hajj dues is expected “soon,” without providing a specific timeline.
“Registered applicants have been advised to use the Pak Hajj app or Hajj helplines for guidance and to ensure their information is accurate while forming groups consisting only of family members,” APP added.
Hajj 2026 concluded in Saudi Arabia in May this year, with millions of Muslims participating in the event. Pakistan was allocated a quota of 179,210 pilgrims under both government and private Hajj schemes.
