LONDON: An Israeli strike on a vehicle in central Gaza’s Deir Al-Balah killed two Palestinians on Sunday, Palestinian media and medical sources said.
Two bodies and several wounded Palestinians, some in critical condition, were taken to hospitals after an Israeli drone hit a vehicle on Salah Al-Din Street, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
Earlier on Sunday, Israeli forces killed at least 13 Palestinians in Gaza, including two children, in separate attacks, according to media reports.
Three people were reported killed when an airstrike hit a residential apartment in the Al-Sousi Tower in western Gaza City, staff at Al-Shifa Hospital said.
The latest attacks came despite US President Donald Trump’s announcement on Thursday that there had been a breakthrough in implementing last year’s Gaza ceasefire agreement.
Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen said on Sunday there was no deal to halt attacks on Gaza and argued that Israel, which already controls about 70 percent of the territory, should move to take full control of the Palestinian enclave.
Violence has surged in Gaza in recent weeks. Local health authorities said 152 Palestinians were killed in the Strip in July, the highest monthly toll recorded this year.
Since the ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, at least 1,222 Palestinians have been killed and 4,053 wounded in Israeli attacks, according to health officials and UN agencies.
The war’s broader toll remains staggering. Since Oct. 7, 2023, when Israel launched its large-scale military campaign in Gaza following a Hamas-led attack, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and at least 174,000 wounded, according to Gaza health authorities.
