KUWAIT CITY, 1 August 2005 — Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, has recovered from leg surgery in the United States and was due to travel on Sunday to Switzerland, the official KUNA news agency reported.
Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, his half brother, said the emir was in “good health and is heading today to Switzerland,” where he usually travels to rest.
“We thank God for the recovery of his excellency following the surgery that he underwent in the American city of Cleveland,” Ohio, the prime minister was quoted as saying by KUNA.
The agency said the emir underwent a “minor operation in the left leg in the United States at the end of May, and the operation was successful.”
KUNA has previously mentioned that the emir underwent the surgery in Cleveland on May 23. He suffered a brain hemorrhage in September 2001 and spent four months recovering in Britain. Last August, he spent about 10 days at a New York hospital undergoing medical examinations.
