JEDDAH, 18 September 2005 — Saturday (Sept. 24) has been declared an official holiday for all government departments to mark the Kingdom’s National Day, the Saudi Press Agency said yesterday quoting Civil Service Minister Muhammad Al-Fayez.
“As the National Day (Sept. 23) falls on Friday, which is a weekly holiday, Saturday will be an official holiday for all workers in government departments,” the minister told the agency.
According to a royal decree, if the National Day falls on Friday it will be compensated by declaring Saturday as holiday, if it falls on Thursday, Wednesday (the day before) will be given as a holiday.
