JEDDAH, 27 September 2005 — Ten Saudi women artists — Samiah Khashoggi, Hanan Taleb, Maha Mufti, Resalat Turkustani, Raeda Ashour, Wafa Al-Mihdar, Wafa Karsha, Nada Shawli, Ayman Mahawi, and Reem Nazir — have established a group called “Saudi Women.” The main reason behind the group, according to Samiah, one of the founders, is to cooperate with other female artists in order to assist and encourage them in their work.

The artists’ first exhibition is currently being held at Al-Alamiya Gallery in Jeddah’s Al-Hamra district and will remain open to the public until the end of this week.

The gallery’s hours are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.; forty paintings which are for sale are exhbited. For further information, contact the gallery at (02) 6635107.
