MADINAH, 12 December 2005 — Al-Ittihad, showing some fine ball control, incisive scoring and fastbreaks, rolled past their arch-foe and local favorites Al-Ohod 75-68 on a day of upsets.
Ohod led Ittihad 40-36 at the break with Abdul Mohsen notching 21 of his 33 points in the match in the first half.
But veteran Ali Maghrabi broke the hearts of Ohod fans as he turned the tie in Ittihad’s favor by scoring 33 points.
In the second match, after a low-scoring first half 25-19, Al-Nasr inflicted a major 75-46 victory over Al-Wehda of Makkah. Abdul Haleem was the top scorer with 21 points.
In another match, Al-Ahli found no difficulty in beating Al-Fateh 73-58. High-flying Yasir Misbah and Khalid Falateh notched 12 points each for Ahli.
In today’s matches, Al-Hilal face Al-Khaleej, Al-Ohod will take on Al-Wehda and Al-Qadisiya will go against Al-Nasr.
