Crown Prince Cup: Ittihad, Ahli Could Meet in Quarters

JEDDAH, 14 December 2005 — The Crown Prince Cup competition draw was made in the presence of Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, president of the Saudi Youth Welfare Presidency, and his deputy Prince Nawaf at the King Fahd Cultural Center.

All teams of Saudi Soccer League in addition of four first and second division teams are participating in the round of 16. The two-day competition will start on Dec.27-28.

The teams are classified in four groups. Group A teams are, Al-Ahli, Al-Ittihad, Al-Abha and Riyadh; Group B consists of Al-Shabab, Al-Taie, Al-Hazem and Al-Hamada; Group C comprises Al-Nasr, Al-Wehda, Al-Ittifaq and Al-Faisali and Group B includes Al-Qadiseya, Al-Hilal, Al-Ansar and Al-Rawdah.

The draw pits Ittihad against Riyadh in Riyadh, Ahli against Abha in Jeddah, Shabab against Hazem in Al-Rass, Taie against Hamada in Hail, Nasr against Ittifaq in Dammam, Wehda against Faisali in Makkah, Hilal against Al-Ansar in Riyadh and Qadiseya against Rawdah in Ahsa.

Ahli and Ittihad could meet in the quarterfinals if they win. If Hilal and Nasr clear the round of 16 and quarterfinals, then they will face each other in the semifinals.

The winner of Ittihad and Ahli match will face Shabab in the semifinals if they too advance.
