The Orbit Satellite Television and Radio Network has successfully concluded a major deal with Turner Broadcasting System securing Orbit’s rights to screen one new and three existing and hugely popular news, movie and cartoon channels. In addition to “Boomerang”, the immensely popular new classic cartoon channel, which made its debut on Orbit recently, the other channels included in the deal are CNN International, Turner Classic Movies and Cartoon Network. The five-year renewable carriage deal ensures continuity of programming across key segments as demanded by Orbit’s subscribers, says Orbit’s Senior Vice President of Western Programming and Creative Services Khulud Abu-Homos. “The significance of this deal is that it demonstrates a powerful harmonization between two leaders - a leading studio and a leading pay TV service - and it takes the offering right to the TV sets of the millions of Orbit subscribers across the MENA region,” Khulud added.
