JEDDAH, 2 January 2006 — Here’s one good New Year’s resolution for those who have been putting off time to learn about computers: Starting Jan. 13, the OFW Cooperative Council (OFWCC) will hold a series of seminars on computer literacy for Filipinos in Jeddah and nearby places.
This year’s opening series will be the 18th by the OFWCC, a group recognized by the Philippine Consulate and accredited by the Philippine Cooperative Development Authority to promote cooperativism among Filipinos in the Western Region of the Kingdom.
The seminar will be held every Friday, 8 a.m to 5 p.m., at the Nayong Pilipino Restaurant, located at the 3rd Floor of Hamada Supermarket along Arafat St. in Jeddah’s Al-Hamra District.
The seminar will run as follows: Jan. 13, MS Windows XP; Jan. 20, MS Word XP; Jan. 27, MS Excel XP; Feb. 3, MS Powerpoint XP; Feb. 10, MS Access XP, Feb. 17, Internet Browsing; and Feb. 24, PC Hardware Assembly.
OFWCC officials said participants who are already knowledgeable of certain subjects may attend only those that they are still unfamiliar with.
Some participants in the OFWCC’s previous seminars chose to take only the first three subjects plus Internet Browsing. Those who were more inclined to take the PC Hardware Assembly course also took up MS Windows XP and MS Word, some completed the whole MS course, while others attended all seven seminars.
