Woman Sheds Abaya, Dresses Like Man

ABHA, 15 January 2006 — Usually in Saudi Arabia it’s the other way around: Men dressed in abayas to disguise their gender. But a woman who was sought by police dressed up as a man in order to avoid arrest, the daily Okaz reported yesterday. Police initially wanted to ask “the man” some questions only to discover “he” was a she, and a she that was wanted on breaking and entering charges. Police said they found drugs on the woman.
