JUBAIL, 26 August 2006 — More than 400 guests were enthralled by the magic of Dr. Muzaffar Hanafi and Johar Kanpuri, the two poets who have created a niche for themselves and are currently in Saudi Arabia. “It was a great experience for all the listeners,” stated Anis Bux, one of the organizers of the Mushaira in Jubail, a joint venture between AMUOBA and HDC, Jubail.
The mushaira was a great hit and went till well past midnight.
A veteran over 45 years of writing poetry and reciting all not only across India but into Europe and America, Dr. Hanafi was a picture of poise and was caught the attention by his perfectly balanced style. Johar Kanpuri, a prominent figure on the ETV, has a style which is more reflective of the social conditions. A very emotional poet, he takes inspiration from the events and happenings of the times.
