ALKHOBAR, 1 March 2006 — The Middle East’s first Formula One (F1) car will be driven along the Corniche roads here at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow.

The event is organized by Red Bull in cooperation with the Supreme Commission for Tourism. The organizers said yesterday all safety and other measures have been taken to make the show a success.

International Dutch F1 driver Robert Doornbos, who raced at the international F1 event in 2005 and is taking part in the 2006 season , said he was looking forward to the road show. “I’m delighted to visit the Kingdom for the road show. I’ve heard a lot about the hospitality of Saudi people and their achievements in sports. The event comes on the eve of the season’s first F1 round, to be held in Bahrain on March 12.
