BHOPAL, 3 March 2006 — NGOs waging a battle for the cause of the survivors of the Bhopal gas tragedy, the world’s worst industrial catastrophe, have asked Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh to urge the visiting US President George W. Bush to facilitate extradition of Warren Anderson, a prime accused in criminal case related to the Union Carbide disaster. According to Abdul Jabbar, Convener of Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Udyog Sangathan (BGPMUS), the Bhopal Gas Peedit Sangharsh Sahayog Samiti (BGPSSS) and his organization have sent a letter to the Prime Minister asking him to raise the issue of Anderson’s extradition with Bush during his visit.
