In a move to provide better educational facilities for Indian and foreign students in Saudi Arabia, the Riyadh-based Delhi Public School (DPS) has announced an ambitious plan to build its own school building with world-class facilities in the Saudi capital. “The new sprawling campus with a sumptuous school building will have a separate section for IGCSE with high-tech classrooms, laboratories and activity rooms besides an auditorium and an administrative block,” Nadeem A. Tarin, chairman of DPS managing committee, said.

Tarin, while unveiling the plan of the new school campus, said, “The DPS Riyadh was affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the IGCSE boards simultaneously; giving students a choice of education they would like to pursue. This step has been taken keeping in mind the international approach of our parent organization called the New Delhi-based DPS Society.” Akhtar Siddiqui, coordinator of DPS Riyadh, said.

Referring to the expansion of school network across the world, Tarin said, “The DPS Society has more than 140 schools in India and about 20 schools overseas to address the needs of the expatriate Indian population.” He added that the Darussalam International Delhi Public School, Riyadh (DPS Riyadh) is committed to combine academic excellence with the joy of learning.

“Our endeavor is to develop a multifaceted personality among our pupils, which will eventually enable them to grow as responsible citizen of the future,” said Siddiqui. He said that DPS Riyadh understands and appreciates the complexities involved in the education of children in Saudi Arabia.

“The school currently offers the facility to allow students to choose the language of his or her choice,” Siddiqui said, while adding that several languages including French, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Malayalam, and Kannada are taught in the school. The students are also educated in Qur’anic studies and value education.

Siddiqui also said “The mental agility had also been strengthened through diverse inspirational method in the form of participation in debate competitions in the Kingdom as well as overseas. The performance of our students has been outstanding. Other forms that have helped the students to grow are the regular activities practiced by them such as, quiz, yoga, fine arts, workshops, plays, skits, poetry recitation, gastronomy, creative writing, needlework and many more things. “

“We have taken a step further by introducing a day boarding facility with the same ambiance as found at home through personal care,” said Siddiqui. This is in addition to the facilities offered by the school for games. The school has made arrangements for providing special coaching in football, cricket, badminton, table tennis and chess. Apart from academics, DPS Riyadh, has also been organizing social events from time to time.

The school celebrated several festivals including Eid within the campus. A charitable fair was also organized on the occasion of Eid last year. The funds raised through the fair were used to help poor deserving children. On Dec. 11 last year, the school also celebrated its annual day. M.O.H Farook, Indian ambassador, Younus Dawood, a representative of Ministry of Education, Ibrahim-Al-Quayid, chairman, DPS Board of Directors and Nadeem Tarin, chairman, DPS managing committee, attended the function.
