BAHRAIN, 25 August 2006 — In a key field-play by the region’s pioneering broadcaster, Orbit Communications Company (OCC) is demonstrating that it is ‘on the ball’ when it comes to satisfying sports fans region-wide, by signing up the two most popular Arabic-language sports channels in the region: The encrypted Al-Jazeera Sports Channels JSC+1 & JSC+2. The deal will enable unobstructed viewer access to further international sports coverage, complementing Orbit’s already extensive international sports portfolio.
The two new Al Jazeera encrypted channels, JSC+1 and JSC+2 will kick off on Sept. 1, and in a win-win situation, Orbit will continue to offer customers gripping sports coverage via the recently signed NBA TV, Al Riyadiyah, and Orbit’s ESPN sports channel, which includes: tennis, cycling, golf, Major League Baseball, National Football League, Major League Soccer, NBA and the pulse-racing NHRA Drag Racing.
“Orbit’s key goal is to deliver the most sought after programming to our audiences, and this is yet another great victory bringing the best in International & regional Sports to the Orbit subscriber!” commented Ali Ajouz, VP Marketing and Distribution, OCC.
