JEDDAH, 11 May 2006 — Audi launched its Q7 here yesterday, describing it as a new vehicle concept.
“It’s a new vehicle concept from the ground up which, just like the Quattro drive itself, has been born from the wealth of ideas, the courage and passion of Audi engineers,” Salah Z. Yamout, general manger of Saudi Arabian Marketing & Agencies Co. Ltd., Jeddah branch, told a press conference.
“In 1986, an Audi Quattro astonished the world, Once again, with the Audi Q7, Audi succeeds in astonishing the world and demonstrating exactly what Vorsprung durch Technik means,” he said.
The Q7 takes the successful Quattro drive idea forward and into a new dimension. With a sporty design and powerful engines, it is showing off its original roots — driving enjoyment, power and dynamism. This was demonstrated in a video presentation.
It sets new benchmarks with exceptional comfort and a generous amount of space.
For the Q7, the designers have translated the classic, angular two-box design of former SUV generations into an independent, fluent stylistic language. A synthesis of robustness, sporty and elegant vehicle lines and a high-quality overall appearance, with which Audi has established a new generation of SUVs, Ayman M. Akram, executive director of Jeddah 4X4 Club, said.
The dynamic roofline and high shoulder section borrow the sporty form of a coupe. The powerful front with distinguishing single-frame radiator grille exudes self-confidence and dominance. With the strong V-shaped pointed bonnet and the drawn-back headlights, even when at a standstill, the Q7 is always striving to push forward — like an athlete on the starting blocks.
The concise stills and high ground clearance emphasize its strong drive side. The large wheels add particular accentuation. They underline its powerful presence, which exudes one thing in particular: Performance that thrills.
The new rev-happy V8 FSI unit with 257 kW and 440Nm at 3,500 rpm demonstrates its sporty side on the road and powerful side off-road. The 4.2-liter engine of the Q7 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds. It is also impressive on slower journeys away from paved roads. Even at 2,000 rpm, you’ve 85 percent of its total torque at your disposal. The reason from this prompt power development: The FSI injection method and 4-valve technology of the powerful light-weight engine. Two inlet valves and two outlet valves in each of the eight cylinders assist in providing a good supply and removal of air at any speed. The result: More torque, more power and less consumption at the same time, according to the car’s technical details.
Besides, the Q7 offers plenty of safety features and storage space.
