New Colleges Approved

JEDDAH, 13 May 2006 — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has approved four new colleges, including a college of pharmacology in Makkah, an arts and science college in Wadi Al-Dawasser and two community colleges in Abha and Dawadmi, the Saudi Press Agency reported yesterday quoting Higher Education Minister Khaled Al-Anqari.

The minister said the new colleges were approved in line with the government’s policy of expanding higher education facilities all over the country to train Saudis in specializations required by the job market. The current budget has made allocations for the new universities in Jizan, Hail and Al-Jouf.

Abdullah has also given his approval for setting up a deanship for academic and administrative development at Islamic University in Madinah and three deanships for library affairs at Jizan, Hail and Al-Jouf universities, Al-Anqari said.

The Higher Education Ministry has appointed Abdul Aziz Al-Ruwais as undersecretary at King Saud University, Saad Al-Heraiqi, undersecretary at King Faisal University, and Fareed Flimban, undersecretary at Taif University.
