JEDDAH, 11 June 2006 — Saudi Brothers Commercial Co. signed an agreement with Japan’s Suido Kiko Kaisha Ltd. to form a joint-operated company in Saudi Arabia to develop engineering and construction of projects related to desalination, domestic and industrial waste treatment and recycling. The agreement was signed by CEO of Saudi Brothers Commercial Co. Fahad Al-Nowaiser and Suido Kiko Kaisha Ltd. Chairman Noriyuki Takaguchi at the Jeddah’s Sheraton Hotel yesterday. Al-Nowaiser said that he expected the newly formed company, Suido Kiko Middle East, to execute projects in desalination and wastewater treatment and recycling fields amounting to SR1 billion ($266 million) over the next 5 years.
Saudi Arabia is planning to launch a number of mega infrastructure water, wastewater and recycling projects with investments totaling more than $100 billion over the next 20 years.
Suido Kiko Kaisha is a world leader in the field of water treatment and has designed and executed large projects in desalination and wastewater treatment. The company will be introducing its so-called Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) technology for different innovative applications for the first time in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Brothers Commercial Co. owns Jeddah-based SAWACO, a specialized company in water desalination production and distribution. The company is planning on doubling its output of desalinated water within the next 18 months.
