Pharmacist Violates Hippocratic Oath

DAMMAM, 25 July 2006 — A middle-aged pregnant housewife suffered a scare when her pharmacist told her to immediately go to a hospital after prescribing her medication that she said made her tired, the Al-Yaum daily reported yesterday. After taking medication for an undisclosed condition, the housewife said she felt unusually tired. She called her pharmacist to inquire about her symptom. According to her, the druggist told her in an alarming tone that she is suffering from potentially fatal side effects and that she should immediately go to the nearest emergency room. Terrified and home alone, the woman approached her neighbors and asked them to rush her to the hospital. After examining the woman, doctors said there was nothing wrong with her. Later, after being approached by authorities and an angry husband, the pharmacist admitting to inflicting psychological harm on the woman and apologized for the alarming misdiagnosis.
