SEC and Rights of Citizens

I really cannot be bothered to calculate or investigate or question the huge amount of money that is being added on a monthly basis to the Saudi Electricity Company’s (SEC) profit — something that is earned through the hard work of citizens.

I also do not care about the comments of some people who say that the Saudi Electricity Company’s current situation does not match the economic ambitions of the country. I will not even bother listening to the people who say that there isn’t a remote chance of an industrial revolution given the present situation and humble capabilities of the company. I’m not even willing to take into account the gossip of others who say that the SEC cannot take out its owed beneficiary finances from some institutions.

I also won’t comment on the SEC chairman’s announcements in which he refused to take responsibility for the electricity power cuts. I believe if it’s not the SEC’s responsibility, then we must blame the Red Crescent. I also don’t intend to remark on the company vice chairman’s justifications and nor will I highlight the announcements that the company’s board of directors makes addressing the government from time to time.

We are also not responsible and can’t be blamed for the enormous economic damages that, unfortunately, some of our national factories in the eastern and central regions have undergone.

We, the citizens, don’t really care about all these details. We honestly don’t want anything that adds no value to our lives. All we need from the SEC is a sense of respect of us as human beings.

Please, respect the citizens and inform us when you intend to cut the electricity power from our houses at least ten minutes prior to the power cut. Technology is very advance now and I believe there are many ways of reaching people through mobile phones and text messages.

A simple message that contains details of the time and period of the power cut would be sufficient. Either try finding a solution similar to this or I assure you that I’ll soon be moving to live next to the SEC chairman’s house. Being his neighbor, I will have electricity that no one would dare to cut.
