How to Lose a Girl and Go to Prison, Too!

JEDDAH, 5 July 2006 — This isn’t the best way to win neither a girl’s heart nor the respect of her father. A Saudi teen snapped a picture of the girl he had a crush on, then attempted to use it to ransom a date from her by threatening to post the picture on the Internet, the daily Al-Riyadh reported yesterday. Instead of submitting to blackmail the girl complained to her father, who then complained to the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. The moral police agents apprehended the lecherous teen and found the image of the girl, taken as she was on her way to class, on his cellular phone. Instead of winning the girl’s favor, the youth was sentenced to nine months in prison and 49 lashes.
