RABAT, 11 September 2006— Moroccan singer Rajaa Kasbani won the Arabic version of the popular British music talent show held by the Rotana television channel last week, the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.
Rajaa will soon sign a contract with Rotana for an album. With her sweet voice and superb professionalism, supported by overwhelming viewer voting, she defeated her tough Egyptian rival Ahmad. The jury referred to her as the “Mediterranean Mermaid.”
A lover of classical music, Rajaa’s performances of Umm Kulthoum, Warda Al-Jazayeria and Majida Erroumi’s were perfect.
Born in 1979, Rajaa first got an airhostess diploma and then worked in several companies, including Jaguar, but the dream of becoming a professional singer never left her.
King Muhammad VI of Morocco will honor her at the royal palace in Rabat next week. The Middle Eastern version of the show is broadcast in 22 Arabic speaking countries through the popular music channel Rotana.
