JEDDAH, 8 October 2006 — A leading perfume manufacturer in the Kingdom named his latest product after one of the most famous singers of the Arab world, Abdel Halim Hafez, who became a legend in his lifetime. Saudi businessman Abdul Khaliq Saeed said he launched the his latest perfume product Al-Andalib Halim this month because he wanted the launch of his product to coincide with the premiering of a serial on the life and works of the singer who died in 1977.

Abdul Khaliq signed recently a contract with the heirs of the artist and the Egyptian Society of the Writers and Composer and the Saut Al-Fann Company for the right to use the singer’s name for the perfume, which is being manufactured in collaboration with two French companies.

The businessman said he was prompted to give the singer’s name to the perfume because of the singer’s particular love for perfumes.

He planned to give the names of Halim’s most popular songs to his future perfume products.

He also pointed out that several Western and Japanese perfume companies use the names of stars for their products.
