JEDDAH, 18 October 2006 — Twenty countries including host Saudi Arabia will be represented in the 7th Mobily International Tennis Championship to be held in Riyadh from Nov. 11 to 24.
This was confirmed by the organizing Saudi Tennis Federation (STF), as well as the 64 entries who signed for the event. These players are from the United States, Canada, Portugal, Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, Yemen, Venezuela, Cyprus, India, Kuwait, Ghana, Iran, Sri Lanka, Macedonia, Poland, Austria, United Emirates, Bahrain and the Kingdom.
The size of the field is likely to increase with the registration still open for players in the Kingdom although the listup for foreign entries closed on Saturday. The draw for the tournament will be made on Nov. 10 at 4 p.m., according to STF Secretary General Rasheed Abu Rasheed adding players 18 years and above are being encouraged to take part in the prestigious event sponsored by Mobily.
STF will be fielding promising young players from its stable, among them, Thamir Intabi, listed No. 353 in the world youth tennis rankings, Abdulaziz Ibrahim, Zaki Ibrahim, Mahdi Al-Mubarak, Abdullah Al-Faraj, Abdulmalik Abu Rasis, Faisal Abanmi, Moussa Al-Mubarak, Samir Al-Basri, Abdullah Al-Hussain and Abdulaziz Al-Hamoud.
International tennis referee Mohammed Al-Ajjaji was designated general referee of the championship with Abdulaziz Al-Dilak and Fahd Al-Dakhil as tournament directors.
