German DJ ATB Rocks Bahrain in Debut Concert

MANAMA, 16 December 2006 — World-renowned German DJ ATB rocked Bahrain yesterday night when over 2,000 fans turned up to attend his hour and a half long concert.

He began his performance shortly after mid-night with fans, many from neighboring Gulf states, packed the grounds of the concert. VIP tickets for the concert had sold out a day earlier.

ATB was the first performer to be allowed to hold a concert on the grounds of the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir, south of the capital Manama.

He had arrived only a few hours prior to his concert, holding a press conference and surprising fans during a short appearance at Euphoria records store in Manama.

“This is my first time to perform here, but I am sure everybody will enjoy the show,” ATB, whose real name is André Tanneberger, told fans.

He is considered one of the top DJs in the world. A recent DJ Mag Top 100 vote ranked him 13th this year, after he dropped from his 2005 9th ranking, which was his first top 10 entry. The 33-year-old musician and producer of trance and dance music has been performing for over eleven years and to-date has released six albums. (Mazen Mahdi)
