JEDDAH, 16 February 2007 — Al-Ittihad’s B team downed their Al-Ahli counterparts 64-58 in the battle for first place in their division in basketball at the Prince Abdullah Al-Fasial Stadium last night.
At halftime Ittihad had a 9-point lead 33 to 24 over Ahli. Ittihad’s outside shooting and their fast break did the job.
After three periods Ittihad still led by nine points 47-38. Both teams played missing inside shots and foul shots. The action picked up in the fourth, and Ahli took the lead with three minuets to go 51-49. The scoring went back and forth with the lead changing five times in the last two minuets. Ittihad played good defense and made some foul shots to cushion the victory. Jabber Al Kabi was the hero for Ittihad scoring 23 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Salman Al Molek scored 21 for Al Ahli.
